You would think that after living on my own for a few years, I'd learn a thing or two about domestic tasks. Nope.
Firstly, I cannot cook to save my life. Considering how we literally need to cook to sustain life, this is not good news. Because of this, I have involuntarily been surviving off the raw food diet. And pasta. Secondly, I cannot do laundry properly. Heck, I'm so bad at laundry, I can ruin something before I even wash and dry it. Like with this sweater dress and blazer, it didn't even cross my mind to consider that linty wool would stick to a black blazer. By the end of the day, I looked like I rubbed a cat on myself. I should just get a cat so I can blame my laundry woes on someone else.

The suburbs
After living in the same suburban neighbourhood for my whole life, my family has finally given into the last detail that now makes us a super typical suburban family: the SUV. Yes, we've traded in the nice two-door, firecracker red, speedy car for a family-driven vehicle. Sorry, did I say family-driven? I meant dog-driven. Just to clarify, the dog isn't driving. But we did pick a car to suit his needs of having a big enough space to lounge in the backseat. Good to know that his needs trump mine. It's not like I ask for much. All I ask for is a car that doesn't require me to stretch my arms high to close the trunk, which subsequently causes my dress to rise up. I'm just trying to be modest here and, y'know, not flash the neighbourhood.

Fancy pants
After years and years of resisting leggings and critically opposing their widespread replacement of pants, I think I finally understand the hype. They're so comfy that I would wear them everyday if I could...even committing the blasphemy of wearing them as pants. But wait, I haven't totally abandoned my values! They're patterned, which makes them different than thin yoga pants that have a reputation for showing a bit more than the public bargains for.

Cozy knits
My current circle scarf is from a California-based shop whose definition of winter and cold is not quite what I have in mind here in the land of the Great White North. I would've been doomed to freezing my neck off this winter if it wasn't for Canadian-based company, JACOB. Yeah, who woulda thunk it- prepare for the winter with a company that actually experiences winters! I was so excited about this scarf, I may or may not have ran around my apartment screaming "It's so fuzzehhhh!"

Open back
No, I don't live in California with endless beautifully warm weather. I live in Canada and go to a university with poor heating systems. So realistically, wearing an open-back sweater here isn't too practical. My back was pretty cold while sitting in class, but it's okay because I cuddled up with my backpack on my lap for warmth. I kinda wish we had stools though so I could show off the back of this Sway Chic top instead of hiding it behind chairs with backs to them.

P.S. Sway Chic has got some pretty awesome faux leather bags, if you're into that sorta thing.

Winter flowers
It's pretty easy to get caught up in seasonal depression. It gets dark quickly, it's cold, and nature is brown and dead. I'm not much of a gardener, but I did get myself a flower-print top from JACOB to try to bring back some life into my life. I think that's gonna be my thing from now on...forget about getting me bouquets of flowers- those just die. Get me floral print clothes from now on. All the fun of flowers without the depressing sight of withering.

Twisted forest
Microsoft announced earlier this week that Windows Live Messenger (aka. MSN back in the good ol' days) will be discontinued. Personally, I know that that technology is quite terrible anyway, but I've got so many fond memories of being in high school and conversing like crazy over MSN. A few days ago, I read a few of my convos I had saved, and might I say...LOL. Half of those chat logs don't even make any real sense: "Dude, the cloud is whack!" Yes, we actually talked like that. C'mon, don't deny it- you used secret obscure codenames too! How else were you supposed to gossip about people without them knowing?

No filter
The day was actually cloudy and dreary for the most part, which is one of the main reasons why I wanted to wear this bright red skirt from JACOB. Don't get me wrong, I love black and brown just as much as the next person, but it's definitely not as cheerful as a pop of red.
