As all of you should know by now, I covered the Toronto Alternative Arts & Fashion Week. On my mind for weeks (yes, weeks!) was: what does one wear at an 'alternative' fashion show? Apparently 'alternative fashion' can mean anything between rejecting conformity and commercialization to any form of self-expression. I definitely appreciated those that attended and wore real head-turning outfits. Me- I'm not that brazen. Apparently floral fishnet stockings is the closest I was willing to do to stand out a bit. I guess another factor was that I wanted to do what I could with my what I already had in my wardrobe, but when most of what I buy looks to the minimalist trend, it's a tad difficult.
I was talking to a friend about how wearing sweats to a fashion show would be the ultimate "alternative/anti-fashion" statement. Perhaps not sloppy sweats, but styled sweats (if that's not an oxymoron). What are your thoughts on what alternative fashion is?
What I'm wearing:
-Black floral fishnet stockings from Zellers
-Ash grey tunic
-Black knit vest
-Black Steve Madden patent leather heels
I love this look!
